At a marina I saw this flag flying with birds perched at the bottom of it. I don't know, it just touched me for some reason. I guess that is why we do this, right????

This is the Lighthouse of Jupiter. It is at the Jupiter Inlet where the Intercoastal Waterway meets the Ocean in Jupiter. Gary and I where up looking at houses and when we went to lunch, while sitting outside, I looked around and saw the lighthouse right there!!! It was a miracle that I got a shot without a ton of tourists walking around at the bottom of it!

2/26/10 Stargazer Lily

The Stargazer Lily is known to be symbolic of wealth and prosperity. Don't know if it has helped me in that regard. but I will keep it around just in case it's true! Plus I love their color and smell, anyways!

2/24/10 Maglolia

Everyone else's magnolias (the tulip tree variety) are in full bloom already, but I only have a couple of these buds starting to break so far. Guess it is just a slowpoke!

2/23/10 Flower

This is taken indoors with no flash, ISO 1250. I have been experimenting with higher ISO setting lately. If I am shooting handheld I up the ISO until I can get the shutter speed I want. So far I am very impressed with the quality of the images with this camera, and often see very little noise even at very high ISOs. I don't know if you regularly use the noise reduction in LR, but I am also very impressed with how well it works. If I see even a hint of noise I use the LR noise adjustments. The only thing on this flower that I think is off is the color, probably becuase of the high ISO, as the true color is a much deeper purple.

These are the very few flowers left in the pond here. It has been so cold here, most have died.

This may be one of my favorite photos of Andi and this vacation. It's simplicity in shapes and colors appeal to me on so many different levels. To me, this photo says, I think I have the most beautiful daughter in the world.......
OK, well, just don't tell Andi, OK?!?!?!?!

The water in the Bahamas is like no other. With the beautiful white sand bottom in contrast to the coral rock that lines the floor of the ocean, the colors are simply gorgeous! Add the adorable red and white stripped lighthouse and you have magic!

OK, if this was a perfect world, I would have had the Captain of this "little" yacht center the boat in this archway better! But I decided to go with it anyway. I just love how large this boat is compared to the archway of the walkway.

These are the two bridges that go from Nassau proper to Paradise Island where Atlantis is. I love the charming colored buildings next to the smooth overpasses of the bridges. And of course the palm trees and blue sky framing the scene!

We had just checked into our suite at The Cove in Atlantis, Nassau, Bahamas. The light was amazing and the colors of the water over there are just amazing. No wonder, blues and greens are my favorite colors!!!! I used my wide angle lens, which I don't use that often, but I think it really worked for this shot!

2/20/10 Freestone Barn

There is a bakery out in this teensy little town called Freestone that is absolutely fabulous. Whenever I go out there, as I did today, I take my camera to shoot this barn across the street from bakery.

2/19/10 Snowy Egret

Ran into this snowy egret today - I just love these birds!

2/18/10 Daffodils

These daffodils line the driveway at my office, where I planted them around 5 years ago when I moved in. They always look great in this long row, I love them!

2/16/10 Land's End

It was a gorgeous evening in San Francisco and so I stopped to watch the sunset. The point jutting out on the left is Land's End , which marks the transition from San Francisco Bay to the ocean. A gorgeous spot!

2/15/10 Great Blue Heron

I was shooting the mustard flowers in the vineyard when this Great Blue Heron swooped down into this stream. I love it when that happens! Don't know if you can see it, it is on the right next to the reeds in the water.

Loving the Tulip! It is hard to try and take different photos of flowers.

2/14/10 Valentine Sky

After a gorgeous afternoon on the coast, we saw this wonderful pink sunset as we drove back into Petaluma. Happy Valentine's Day!

2/13/10 Maverick Waves

I had to go to the coast knowing that the big surf contest is happening at Mavericks beach today, down at Half Moon Bay. The waves up on the Sonoma Coast were just about as big as Maverick's, where all the spectators were doused with some serious waves. Glad I had my camera safe and sound here on the Sonoma coast!

02/14/10

A lovely Valentine Day spent sitting on Government Cut, the water way from downtown Miami to the Ocean. The weather was beautiful and all the different types of boats on the water where amazing. From large yachts, cargo boats to little hobie cats. so much fun to watch......
Happy Valentines Day!

There is this huge building by my house that is all mirrored glass. When i drove past it today I saw such a beautiful reflection, I had to grab my camera and shoot it. I wanted to leave in the building's number, to show, hopefully that it was a building.....
What did we say about this blog making us look at things closer and more carefully? I don't ever remember seeing the reflection in this building before...

2/11/10 Red Winged Blackbird

There were tons of red winged blackbirds out in this field of mustard flowers this morning. This little country road is so pretty. I think I will post a few of my shots on Flickr, too!

Back and forth to the Vet today. Louise was in for tests, but Earl wanted to go along for the ride. As you can see, he loves to stick his head out the window! This is a bit self portrait while trying to get a photo of Earl....
